All complaints about Liberty mutual
Feb 20th, 2012 by william moody
my wife was involved in an auto accident on 12/30/2011 while driving my truck. the accident was caused by someone insured by Liberty Mutual. I drove the truck home, and to work. A few days later a rep from Liberty Mutual made contact an said the company – Liberty Mutual would pay to fix my truck , rent a vehicle for me to use while my truck was being repaired, whatever it took to make things right. I was asked to take my truck to the nearest Liberty Mutual repair shop for an estimate of the cost to repair my truck. On the way to the repair shop, I stopped at a tire and brake shop and got a written estimate for the cost to align the front end of my truck- a defect caused by the accident. I dropped the truck off at the Liberty Mutual authorized repair shop in Prattville Al. When I went back to get my truck a few days later, I got a copy of the written estimate for repairs to my truck and read it. I noticed that the front end alignment was not included on the estimate. I asked the rep at the shop what the problem was, He said not to worry. that whichever repair shop I chose to use would notify Liberty Mutual that more damage had been found than was listed on the original estimate, and a supplemental check would be issued to cover the cost.
I called Liberty Mutual later to verify this was so. I was assured it would not be a problem. A week or so later a check came in the mail for the estimated cost of repairs- less the front end alignment. I discussed this with the repair shop I chose to do the repair work. I deposited the check from Liberty Mutual in one of my bank accounts an repair work began on my truck. The repair shop contacted Liberty Mutual about the supplemental cost of the repairs. Liberty Mutual told the man to stop work on my truck- that someone would come to get my truck = because Liberty Mutual had declared it a total loss because the cost to fix my truck was more than the Kelly book value. No one from Liberty Mutual called or asked me what I wanted to do with my truck. I cannot replace the truck for the cost of repairs. The damage is cosmetic. The truck is a good running vehicle. It is also mine. I was lied to by Liberty Mutual- and I see- like others before me- that Liberty Mutual will take advantage of the average Joe. The supplemental cost to align the the front end of my truck is
$169. Liberty Mutual wants to force me to junk a good truck rather than do what is right. Other complaints I have been reading about Liberty Mutual state that a good lawyer is needed when dealing with them. I agree. Liberty Mutual will rip you off.
Bottom line. Liberty Mutual WILL RIP YOU OFF. Claim # LA586-021486655-04
